Famous Farmers Market


The Barryville Farmers Market is not to be missed. Located along the Delaware River on the grounds of the United Methodist Church, the market runs on Saturdays from May through October. The vendors are local, so you’re buying directly from the person who grew it or made it. The market is so much more than a shopping experience that helps support small farms, it’s a community event with prepared food, live music, cooking demos by local chefs, educational talks, and family activities. 


Events

There are some special events in Barryville that truly set it apart. The annual Christmas tree lighting is a fun time complete with Santa on his sleigh and caroling by off-Broadway singers. With each Spring, comes the Butterfly Bike Ride to create a monarch butterfly and pollinator habitat by sowing seeds along Route 97– the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway. There are also ways to help protect the environment, such as river cleanups.

Barryville is just a 2 hour drive from New York City; 30 minutes from Port Jervis, NY and Matamoras, PA; and 20 minutes from Bethel, NY. 


Schools


Barryville is part of the Eldred Central School District, which contains one elementary school and a junior/senior high school. The Homestead School, a highly sought-after, nature-based, hands-on learning Montessori (early childhood through high school), is located in Glen Spey, which is part of the Barryville community.
